Spring Style Guide

You & I both want your photos to turn out beautiful. One major component in this is the outfits you choose. Well planned and coordinated outfits in combination with photographer prompting and posing are all it take to make Pinterest worthy images! I strongly encourage you to take the time to read and follow through with these tips to ensure you have timeless, frame worthy images of your family.

Coordinate, don’t match

Gone are the days of everyone in khakis & white shirts. Instead, choose a color pallet and have everyone choose items within those colors. This is especially helpful with an extended family session. Neutral, blues, and pinks work great in Spring. We try not to wear too much green as there tends to be an abundance of green in our landscapes and our goal is for you to stand out from our setting!

Patterns & Textures

Patterns & textures make a world of difference in your images. But it doesn’t have to be complicated. Look at your outfits together and make sure that at least 2 family members have an interesting pattern or texture in their outfit (for extended families, make this 4 family members). Patterns can be in the form of a floral dress, a plaid or checkered shirt, stripes, etc. Textures are often forgotten but make such a difference. Skip the basic cotton dress for your girls and look for something with lace or ruffle detailing. Add a denim or corduroy jacket to one of the boys. Ruffle socks for a toddler or a tiered dress for mom.

Styling your outfit

Adding accessories to your outfits makes you look and feel better and in return makes your photographs beautiful.

A cardigan or jacket for the kids instantly levels up their outfit. Bows for girls, obviously! Mom can try a headband, a hat, a belt or just an extra piece of jewelry. Dads it’s time to break out the nice watch. Our boys always look adorable with a belt and a tucked in shirt or even suspenders! Don’t focus too much on shoes - it’s often the last thing you’ll notice in your images. Just please make sure whatever you choose everyone is comfortable!
